    Studies have shown that acupuncture is no more effective then placebo.

    Studies have also shown many western medicines, including antidepressants, to be no more effective than placebo. But placebo is more effective than no treatment. The fact that many treatments are probably at least partial placebos is a poor reason not to use them.
