I suffer with treatment resistant depression and need advice.?

As I have questions about treatment resistant depression I am very concerned with other with the same condition. My specialist has tried just about all antidepressants and even newer ones on the marker. Would you share with me the treatments that you have tried or any that you are finding success with or anything that has been helpful. My insurance has denied a vagul nerve stimulator and refuses to help. I am in the process of applying for a clinical trial to prove that is worthy to be helpful for depression and possibly chronic pain. It has been used for epilepsy and is very helpful. Your answers are most appreciated and I would even appreciate in medications that has been helpful with depression not just treatment resistant.
thanks for your concern and answers, as you all know it is very frustrating. I was in the hospital and receive ECT’S 3 time a week and continued afterwards, It only helped a little and It was something that kept up with it. I lost so much long and short term memory loss. I also used small dose of emSam. Unfortunately it has not helped, anh more suggestions. I am my wits end, thankyou much for you help, it is so appreciated , Please continue to help.

I was prescribed numerous different medications (and Electro Convulsive Therapy) for my clinical depression, over a period of about 14 years – none of which seemed to touch me. Eventually, I found my way to a Gestalt Therapist and started to understand why I was who I was, and to be less harsh and more compassionate towards myself. It was hard going, and certainly not a ‘quick fix’ – you have to be really ready to look at your issues. Then I undertook a course in meditation at my local Buddhist Centre. Suddenly, I was surrounded by NON-judgemental people who accepted me for who I am, and learnt about the Buddha’s teaching, which gave me the belief that I, too, have potential! I am now much more accepting of my SELF, and face life with much more confidence and, even (en)joy(ment)! I can’t put all my improvement down to Buddhism, because that would negate all the hard work I have done in therapy, and perhaps you wouldn’t want to go down that road – but I am just sharing what has helped me. I wish you well.

    Anything you accept: you transcend.

I suggest moving into rather than avoiding the depression. Let it have you….
Feel it totally and you’ll burn it up.

DO NOT act on your feelings.

Have you ever asked your doctor if you could try a new medication called Ensam patch? This type of medication has been used in the past as a last resort because there are food interactions. But the low dose of this Ensam patch does not have the food interactions. My sister has struggled with a very difficult depression. Her doctor put her on this Ensam patch and almost right away, within a couple of days, she felt much, much better. That heavy depression lifted almost right away.

So good luck. Your doctor seems to be trying hard to find the right medication for you. Don’t give up. And if your doctor hasn’t mentioned Ensam patch to you, maybe you could ask him or her about it. Take care.

You are close to a brain surgery after which you will feel fine but be as simple as a little girl. If you cant tough out the feelings from the depression chemicals you cant recover. Fifteen years on meds will eliminate your ability to solve problems.

Well, let’s see… as far as antidepressants go, I’ve been on both Wellbutrin XL and Wellbutrin SR, Paxil, Zoloft, Prozac and Lexapro.

Paxil and Prozac left me feeling REALLY loopy and med-head (like with cold medicine but SOOOOO much worse). Zoloft was used to aid the Wellbutrin SR for awhile, which worked wonders, but over the years the doses of the Wellbutrin had be increased and then moved to XL until it finally just pooped out on me. Lexapro has been the best one for me yet… only dry mouth as a noticeable side-effect.

If you are running out of options, I would suggest you look into ECT. It’s much more humane than it used to be and has shown so much improvement for those whose are hard-core med-resistant. http://www.CrazyTracy.com is a great blog by a woman who suffers from bipolar I and has benefited from Electroconvulsive Therapy.

I wish you the best and I really understand how hard it is to find a medication that works and you can tolerate. If you ever need an ear or someone to sympathize, check me out at http://www.mercurialscribe.com.
