But if the action mechanism of a drug is unknown is it ethical to show, on TV, simplified diagrams of how SSRI’s work? Again, when how they work is actually unknown? No! My body started giving me weird symptoms, I went to the doctor, and they labeled me anxiety and panic. I am proving that something immunologically went wrong, rather than mind, but I hope my body gets better as I take better care of it. I like the way you go to the dictonary to point out the mechanism of how antidepressants have work is unknown. The vast majority of people cannot read a scientific paragraph and make heads or tails of it.
Most people don’t know that the advancement of science is highly dependent on communication. Very often, when a scientist uses big words he is trying to hide the fact he has no evidenceto support his work.
Oh man Im a biology/behavioural neurosciences student and this video is full of Scientology non-sense. For example, it is true that SSRIs can cause suicidal tendencies, but the people saved from suicide by far outweights the number who have commit suicide while on SSRIs. Also, people always say SSRIs are only a money-maker.. well unfortunately the #1 selling medication for several years now has been Lipitor, maybe it’s time to eat less McDonalds and get more exercise.
I prescript-ed by Prozac by a doctor seems like some who actually need prozac more than i am … i told her … why dont u use prozac lol until now i am getting better without any of those medicine……. AHA !!

@rextony22 There are no short cuts to mastering the mind and happiness is of the mind. Anti-depressants rise from the philosophy that what you put in your body effects your mood. But what of all these processed foods, herbicides and steroid injected animals that people are consuming everyday. Surely they have an effect on the brain.

@rextony22 I do not know what it you’re inquiring about but I’ll try to answer anyway. If you want to feel happy you need to give your body attention. Ask yourself, what does my body need, instead of what you want.
Plants have the most complex DNA, the largest genomes, the most genes and chromosomes. They can do things that we can not such as produce oxygen and proteins through photosynthesis. If you want too be healthy and feel good you best eat a lot of lively fresh plants.

@SeiferOptics Severe anxiety probably will not respond to ‘Vitamin B6′ and SSRIs are rarely prescribed for ADD/ADHD. Also, SSRIs can’t be called legalized heroin because people don’t use them to get high, they use them to try to treat severe states of depression/anxiety. It’s biased to associate SSRIs with heroin… The 2 medications have nothing in common for that matter, SSRIs target serotonin reuptake receptors whereas heroin targets opioid receptors.

Have you ever tried some of these drugs yourself? My reaction to these was similar to first time reactions to heroin! It took me to gates of Hell and back!!
With only help from friends and family I am now more stable and more positive.

ok. i’ve been taking zoloft since 2001. this is when i started getting really bad thoughts about hurting other people. yes, they were psychotic. now, this is how zoloft worked for me. it did a couple of things. first weird thing i noticed was, i wasn’t afraid of heights anymore and i always had a phobia of heights. second weird thing i noticed was if you don’t take it on time every time, you’ll get real dizzy. now, as far as my thoughts, zoloft in my opinion saved my life.
