How to treat PMDD under these circumstances?

I’m a 29 year old woman who has always had issues with fairly severe anxiety and depression, even as a child. I’ve seen several therapists and been on just about every antidepressant/anti anxiety med out there, including "natural" remedies like 5-HTP. However, nothing seems to "take", since I’ve never felt as though I have experienced any relief from these issues;the therapists never seemed to help, and neither did the pills..they either gave me incredibly bad side effects or simply did not work at all, just as if I was taking a sugar pill. Every professional I’ve seen about this is stumped as to why this is.

I’ve always been prone to incredibly strong rages/crying spells when under stress, and they tend to come every 2 weeks or so. This Christmas I had a horrible meltdown while my family was in town, right before my period, no less. My mom, who had seen me have times like this many times before, suggested that I might have PMDD.
From what I’ve read, this is treated with 1.) Antidepressants, 2.) Psychological counseling, and 3.) horomone therapy, like birth control pills. This makes me lose hope that I can be treated effectively, as I am currently on birth control pills and as mentioned before, do not respond as well as I should to antidepressants/therapy.

Are there any other treatments out there I could try?

My doc said that I might have PMDD and she recommended that I take Serafem. It really does help. Your doc will probably start you out with the lowest dosage, but it can be elevated if needed. If you wanted a more natural approach, try St. Johns Wart.
